There’s no other way to say it, Carl Sokia is a man on a mission. After stumbling into
human resources at the beginning of his career, he quickly rose up through the ranks as he revolutionized the brands that were lucky enough to get to work with him.
After helping
build culture after corporate culture, he started to realize that most companies just get it
wrong when it comes to human resources. Surprisingly enough, in their narrow worldviews, there was actually nothing human about their so called “human resources” approach.
A self-described Figure-It-Outer focused on The Human Experience, Carl Sokia started his career in the hospitality industry as an airport shuttle driver for a small hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah. His contagious positivity, relentless commitment to service, and innate leadership ability, led to his rapid ascent as a Human Resources thought leader, creating successful experience, engagement, and service initiatives for luxury resort properties & organizations across the United States.
Carl has received global performance awards and was the recipient of Utah Business Magazine’s distinguished Forty Under 40 award in 2019, and the HR Business Professional of the Year award in 2020. In addition to recently serving as President of Utah’s largest professional HR group, Salt Lake SHRM, Carl is also actively involved on the boards of multiple community service & business organizations. With Experience Management Solutions (XMS), Carl is working with organizations & leaders to pivot out of a human resources mentality & into the Human Experience. Drawing from his vast career experience centered in luxury hospitality, Carl now works with clients to uncover process pain points and create effective solutions that match the expectations of the new millennial & centennial workforce and consumer base.
In addition to Experience Management Solutions, Carl launched The HX Podcast featuring Carl Sokia, a podcast dedicated to building an understanding of how personal experiences impact attitudes, challenges, and successes. He is a proud husband and the father of six daughters and currently resides in Sandy, Utah.
